Our nursery is open Monday to Friday, 8:15 am to 5:45 pm, offering either full time places or part time places for three (or four) consecutive days a week.

Our nursery is open 50 weeks of the year, closing for one week at Christmas and four days at Easter.

 

Children aged 3 years and over at Stanhope House Day Nursery Leicester are eligible for financial assistance under the Government's Nursery Grant scheme.

Situated in a converted Victorian villa, Stanhope House Day Nursery has been operating as a nursery for over 30 years, so we've had plenty of opportunity to adapt the building to our needs.

We have 4 fully equipped nursery rooms. They are:

  • The baby room, on the ground floor, takes our smallest charges, from 6 weeks to 1 year.
  • Nursery 1, connected to the baby room, takes children from 1-2 yers.
  • Nursery 2, also on the ground floor, takes children from 2-3 years.
  • On the first floor is Nursery 3, which caters for our 3-5 year olds.
  
   
Stanhope House Day Nursery is also situated in its own secure grounds. The high fenced garden provides a secluded part lawn and part paved playground so that children can play outside throughout the year. Outside the children can:

Safety and security is maintained by:
  • The various security devices in operation, including a Biometric system on the front door. When children are playing in the garden both front and rear gates can be locked.
  • Off road parking, available when dropping off and collecting your children.
  • Storage of prams and pushchairs during the day in our garage, which is kept permanently locked.

All meals are cooked in our own kitchen and make full use of fresh fruit and vegetables. We recently achieved the "best smilesafe rating" set by the Environmental Health and Safety Team. The Smile Safe report can be viewed online at www.leicester.gov.uk/smilesafe. Our menu is devised on a four week basis and we cater for all dietary requirements. We provide, for example, a vegetarian and non-vegetarian meal every day. We offer water and milk to drink. Sugary drinks are avoided.  
 
Daily refreshments include:  
   
  • Breakfast for children arriving before 9 am.
  • Mid-morning drink.
  • Lunch.
  • Mid-afternoon drink and snack.

We have a varied programme of regular events for you and your child.
  • Every week the children are invited to do some cooking to take home.
  • Birthday and leaving parties: you provide the cake, we organise the party with games, special party hats, etc.
  • Regular visits from the book bus.
  • A hairdresser visits every 6 weeks.
  • Regular Music and Movement Sessions .
  • Parent's evenings to talk about your child's progess.
  • Visits to the local Fire, Police and Ambulance stations (when possible).
  • Many festivals, such as Diwali, Eid, Christmas, Chinese New Year and Easter are celebrated. We welcome the generous help offered by parents with the particular details and customs concerning these festivals.
  • A professional photographer who visits annually for group and individual portraits.
